Report of the 3rd multiplier event, 3rd November 2020
by OAED
OAED (Manpower Employment Organization) in collaboration with IME GSEVEE (The Institute of Small Enterprises of GSEVEE and leader partner) organized the 3rd online Multiplier Event of the EU Erasmus+project "Mentorship Evaluation and Training in Organizations for WBL at EU" (# Mentor4WBL @ EU). The event took place on Tuesday 03/11/20, from 12:00-15:00p.m. Central European Time, via the e-platform “G-Suite for Education (Meet)” of Google .
The aim of the event was the presentation of the innovative e-platform (moodle) for the training of mentors to all VET stakeholders (mentors /in-company trainers, SME’s, VET providers , trainees and apprentices, social partners, VET teachers etc.) The moodle platform was developed and presented by Dr George Kyriakakis, OAED’s IT expert. During the event, the e-certification platform for in-company mentors was also presented by Florence Le Lann (Viasyst, Switzerland). The exploitation activities of the project as well as the questionnaire addressed to companies in order to investigate their attitude regarding the institution of Mentors/in-company trainers were presented by OAED.
During Q&A session, the above deliverables were discussed with the participants. More specifically, it was pointed out that the institution of Mentor will be launched for the first time in Apprenticeship/ Internship schemes in Greece although it has a significant role in apprenticeship/internship schemes in central European countries with tradition in VET (e.g Switzerland, Austria, Germany).
It was also mentioned that the implementation of the e-platform for training and certification will have concrete learning outcomes for the future mentors. Moreover, the importance of mentoring to the improvement of on-the-job training was also highlighted. The multiplier event was rather successful as it was attended by 55 participants approximately, taking into account the difficult circumstances due to the Covid pandemic. The participants came from Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Greece and Turkey. Among them, were entrepreneurs offering Apprenticeships/Internships, social partners, experts on VET as well as EPAS & IEK Principals, VET Directors, teachers etc.
It was concluded that the implementation of an innovative educational process that will combine online training with the professional certification of in-company mentors is considered to be crucial for the improvement of "On-the-job training" in Apprenticeships/Internships. Finally, it was mentioned that the project is expected to have added value to the upgrade of VET because the training course developed under # Mentor4WBL @ EU (2018-2021) uses innovative methodology and tools which are expected to contribute to the professional empowerment of mentors in the workplace. Finally, the project partners warmly thank all the participants for their valuable comments and the feedback they provided during the event.
